At first I think this is funny - I have a teenager and putting him in the trunk seems funny to me. But then if you dig deeper - a tv is more important than their child/other human being. Sad really. AND yet....

Couple arrested for putting teen in trunk to make room for TV.
A man and woman were arrested in Cumberland County Monday after putting a teenager in a car trunk to make room in the car for a television.

The arrest came after authorities got a tip that a child had been placed inside the trunk of a car traveling down Peavine Road. Cumberland County Deputy Timothy Tutors stopped the car, and asked the driver, Cory A. McDaniel of Crossville whether he had anyone in the trunk of his car.

McDaniel said he did, and opened the trunk, where the officer found a 16-year-old boy. Deputy Tutors asked why the boy was in the trunk, and McDaniel explained that a TV he needed to transport wouldn't fit in the trunk, but the teen would.

There was a large TV in the back seat of the vehicle. Cory McDaniel was arrested on charges of reckless endangerment, and is currently free on $1,000 bond awaiting an April 28, 2008 court date.

Also in the vehicle was Rhonda Howard, the teenage boy's adult sister. Ms. Howard was also arrested on reckless endangerment charges, and is free on $1,000 bond awaiting an April 28, 2008 court date.

The Department of Children Services is investigating.

Ramblings

I changed the channel to look at what the weather would be and it was a show on tornados. The scientist being interviewed said "The situation was unknown unknowns."

Isn't that redudent. I mean if it is unknown then it implies that it is unknown. An unknown of course is unknown because it is well unknown - of course, so why say it twice. It's kind of implied. Anyway, say someone has disappeared and is missing and no-one knows why. Well part of that is that they know the person has disappeared so it is not totally unknown - it is more of a known unknown. So you can have known unknowns but can you have unknown unknowns.

Don't you usually know at least a portion of something - just not all of it. You may not know the why but you know at least the result, I think. So is there truelly an unknown unknown. I'm not sure - at least I can't think of any. I can think of plenty known unknowns and just unknowns but not unknown unknowns.

Unknown means that you do not know something (well maybe a bunch of somethings). So can you not know not know something. Isn't that a double negative so it would mean you actually know something. Ok, now I'm all confused.

I think I'm just going to say I don't know and leave it unknown. Unless of course you know.

Spring

I think it might actually be here. Right now I am listening to birds, children playing and someone mowing the lawn. After days of gloomy rain and gray clouds it is finally sunny and warm. Of course I am also listening to the couple that lives across from us have a very loud argument. I guess reality had to break in.

It is beautiful out. I have the bird feeder out on the porch and several birds have been visiting. The cats love this of course. They sit by the window and their little mouths move up and down. I think they make little comments along the lines of "here birdy birdy." They look so expectantly at the bird and you can see the frustration in them when the birds fly away after eating. We let them out on the porch every now and then and they love to lay in the sun and just watch everything that is going on.

Yes, I think Spring is finally here. You can smell it in the air. I think that might even be garlic onion. Mmmm. That is one of the best things about Spring. The smells. Of course the pretty flowers and trees that just seem to poof overnight with bright colors are just as wonderful.

The winter is over and finally the warmth is here and we can emerge out of our little houses and be free again. Yeah it's Spring.
